Marble Countertops Kitchen Design Tips

Marble is an excellent kitchen island material choice due to its timeless beauty and durability. From Calacatta, with its mesmerizing veins of grey winding through pristine white, to Negro Marquina, moody and dark with lightning bolts of stark ivory, marble is some kind of magic. It’s a great way to add elegance and sophistication to any kitchen and is one of the most popular kitchen design material choices out there. Yet surfaces such as marble or wood, while are beautiful and wonderful natural materials, are vulnerable to certain actions. A few things to consider about marble: marble is a relatively heavy material, marble is a porous material so it must be properly sealing to protect it from spills and stains and finally, marble is a much more expensive material than other countertop options.

The four essential elements to consider when choosing marble surfaces are practicality, beauty, context, and movement,’ says Jamie Blake, of Blakes London. Make sure to layer marble with other materials. For instance, if you have a little more space to play with, consider contrasting a statement marble island with wooden cabinets. Another beauty to using marble surfaces is how versatile they are and go well with almost any color palette, subtle to richer, darker hues. Still on the fence, get inspired by a few of these marble beauties below.
