Sticking to Classic and Painting your Staircase Black

Black is quite possibly the most classic of colors. And while stair railings are not an obvious design element of which to make maximum design impact, a black painted staircase is bold, yet not too bold. How so? Black painted staircases that feel both elevated and refined. Why? Quietly bold so to speak as the black color emphasizes the architectural structure of the staircase; creating a cohesive look and a dramatic entry by painting your steps, risers, and stair railings the same shade of black. As you'll notice in our favorite black painted staircases below, some accentuate with organic accessories and weathered wood floors to add warmth, while others stress curved details to add loads of visual interest.
